Resources for Real ID
Starting in May 2023, the federal Real ID Act will place new rules on which forms of identification may be used to board flights within the United States (U.S.) and enter secure federal facilities, such as military bases, federal courthouses, and other federal facilities.
In collaboration with the Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC), the California State University Chancellor's Office, Foundation for California Community Colleges, and the California Community Colleges Chancellor's Office hosted an informational webinar on November 17, 2021, to share updates on The Real ID Act. Experts from the ILRC shared an overview of: California drivers’ licenses, identification cards, AB 60 drivers’ licenses, and Real ID cards (including who qualifies, what is needed to apply, when to use them, and associated benefits). A recording of the webinar as well as other resources are available below.
